Tonight I just got home from our final performance of Meg's new piece, "Cottonwood Seeds," which we performed at the Washington State Music Educator's Association. What fun it has been to play with these friends - Dick Skerlong, long-time Principle Violist of the Symphony, David Salge of the Houston Symphony, Bonnie Blanchard of Silverwood Music, Maria Sier, Alison Austin, Heather Hoskins, and Kay Jhun. Paul (on Native American flute this time) did an awesome job with improvisation, and once again, Darrell did amazing things with congas, as well as other percussion. This was a concert going back to my classical side...Wow, we sure had fun together!! Everyone had the opportunity to play at least one amazing solo, with everything from Klezmer to classical to jazz. But the most important part was that several children got sponsored through World Vision, and we raised funds for "most needed" areas of the world. I'm thankful for great musicians who used their gifts along with me, to benefit children who are in desperate need. Thanks, Meg, for your great new piece which gave us an excuse to do this grand concert! For those of you who missed it...well, you missed out!! BUT, the good news is that the program was video taped and will be aired on public television soon on the program, "Crescendo," out of New York City. I will let you know when that will happen.
